Green Week

We created Green Week to give a platform to sustainability in its three key forms: environmental, economic and social. It’s organised by benefit corporation Acqua dell’Elba and by Fondazione Acqua dell’Elba, a non-profit whose mission is to enhance the island of Elba by running projects and supporting businesses in five specific areas: environment, education, culture, social initiatives and art.

Timed to coincide with Black Friday every year, Acqua dell’Elba stages a week of workshops, debates and events devoted to environmental, economic and social sustainability. It is also when the business presents the results of all the sustainability measures that benefit corporation Acqua dell’Elba and the Fondazione Acqua dell’Elba have completed or begun.

Green Box

Green Week is intentionally held during the same week as Black Friday with the aim of offering up a different perspective on ways we can create value for all of us. Over the course of the week, Acqua dell’Elba embodies that message by not offering ludicrous discounts and promotions.

Instead we offer the elegant “Green Box” containing unique fragrances and acting as a concrete gesture towards sustainability. Inside this box is a 500ml room diffuser refill in a recycled rPET plastic container and an empty container – also in rPET – to fill with one of the fragrances available under the initiative.

The Green Box is available exclusively as a gift when purchasing at least €110 worth of products directly from Acqua dell’Elba stores, including the online store, and from the top perfumeries selling Acqua dell’Elba products.

The net profits made from this initiative every year go towards Fondazione Acqua dell’Elba projects .

ENVIRONMENT:

VIA DELL’ESSENZA:
'In 2025, the Foundation continued its “Via dell’Essenza” project, a sensory journey along the west coast of the Island of Elba, in collaboration with the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Stages 6, 7, and 8 were inaugurated, officially closing the western Elba loop, totalling 66.5 km. All the stages now have new signage and QR codes along the entire route, giving details about flora and fauna and points of historic and natural interest. Set up in 2011 and expanded in 2022, this project aims to promote Elba’s landscape and sustainable hiking tourism.

MARE PULITO:
In 2025, the Foundation continued its collaboration with the 20 diving centres on Elba and the “Marevivo” association on the “Mare Pulito” (Clean Sea) project. This saw organisation of another one-day beach clean-up, raising awareness with more than 100 school students at the I.C. "Sandro Pertini" in Portoferraio, the Istituto Comprensivo Carducci in Porto Azzurro, and the Istituto Comprensivo Giusti in Marciana and Marciana Marina about issues linked to safeguarding and enhancing the sea. More than 350 kg of rubbish were picked up on the day, then disposed of thanks to ESA (the Elba environmental service agency), which is also part of the project.

EDUCATION:

100 BOOKS DONATED:
In 2025, the Foundation continued to invest in education with its “Book Project”. This involved the donation of 100 new books to the libraries of all the high schools on the Island of Elba, two-thirds of them chosen by the schools themselves and the rest picked by the Foundation on a specific subject. The chosen topic for 2025 was Artificial Intelligence. In addition to the donated books, a Work Project was also organised, again on the topic of AI and thanks also to support from the Università IULM, in particular the AI Research Centre headed by Prof. Guido di Fraia. As part of the Work Project, which lasted the entire school year, fourth-year science students at the Istituto Foresi and third-year admin, finance and marketing students at Cerboni organised a debate on the subject of Artificial Intelligence, covering its pros and cons and using books donated by the Foundation as reference. The aim was to develop critical thinking about this hugely topical issue.

CULTURE:

The 2025 SEIF - Sea Essence International Festival had "Mediterranean Communities" as its theme. The aim of the 2025 edition was to celebrate the sea as an ecosystem to preserve and, at the same time, remember its role as a driver for cultural, economic and social development for all the coastal communities. For the first time, it was a multi-location festival, involving all the seven municipalities on the Island of Elba with a packed programme of diving experiences, educational events, artistic initiatives and kids’ activities. Results from this edition included the official announcement of extension of the “Blue Schools” project to all the schools in the Tuscan Archipelago, presentation of the 2025 SEIF Award to Letizia Magaldi, President of the Kyoto Club Association and Executive Vice President of Magaldi Green Energy, for her contribution to sustainable development and environmental awareness, the inauguration of stages 6-7 and 8 of the Via dell'Essenza, the inauguration of the ninth Acqua dell'Elba Art Award, and huge audiences on several evenings during the festival, including for the show La Fisica che ci piace (Physics we like) presented by Vincenzo Schettini and the concert by Valerio Lundini & I VazzaNikki.

HEALTH AND SOCIAL:

In June 2025, the Foundation once again supported the EndoElba association in Marciana Marina with realisation of the “CamminEndo” walk from the “yellow bench” at the Acqua dell’Elba HQ to the second “yellow bench” in Il Cotone, on the other side of town. Yellow benches are the symbol of the endometriosis awareness campaign and each bench has a QR code on it giving information about this pathology.
