Sustainability
Acqua dell'Elba was founded as a family business and it is a 'venture' to all intents and purposes: as an entrepreneurial dream but also and above all as an adventure. It is the result of the three founders' passion for perfumes and of a common dream, that of reviving the magic of the Tuscan Renaissance workshop on Elba, thanks to the expertise of the best master perfumers.
Benefit Corporation
In 2021, Acqua dell’Elba became a Benefit Corporation. A precise commitment to generate a positive impact not only for the shareholders but also for all the stakeholders of the company: employees and collaborators, suppliers and customers, local community and territory, environment.
To be a Benefit Corporation means understanding your role in society differently: it's not just about achieving economic targets, but also about acknowledging direct responsibilities and practical obligations to generate value for the environment and society. The goal is to contribute to building a new model of society that is more equitable and attentive to the needs of human beings and the environment.
Certifications
In 2000, the Acqua dell’Elba sailing ship set sail. An entrepreneurial project whose aim is to recreate, in a fragrance, the Essence of the Sea. Today, it tells the story of a company that, through deep listening and respect for the world in which it lives and its needs, is fully aware of its role within the social context it belongs to. A context on which it depends and to which it must—and wants to—provide responses, in order to improve the quality of life of people and society as a whole, through a structured and shared approach.
Carbon Footprint
Acqua dell’Elba has undertaken a decarbonisation journey in collaboration with AzzeroCo2, a leading company in sustainability consulting. Also for 2025, Acqua dell’Elba confirms its commitment to achieving zero emissions through reduction and compensation actions.
Kyoto Club
In the course of 2023, Acqua dell’Elba Benefit Corporation, further confirming the company’s social responsibility and its commitment to having a sustainable impact that respects people, the territory and the sea, became a member of the Kyoto Club.
Kyoto Club is a non-profit organisation created in February 1999, made up of companies, bodies, associations and local administrations committed to achieving the greenhouse gas reduction objectives set by the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal.
Elba 2035
Elba 2035 is a project aimed at listening to and engaging with the local community to initiate specific initiatives to make the Island of Elba even more attractive and sustainable by 2035. The project took its first steps in 2019 and, in 2021, it was enriched by a prestigious partnership with EY (a global network of professional consulting, auditing, tax, and transaction services), which coordinated the implementation of the final document.
Green Week
We created Green Week to give a platform to sustainability in its three key forms: environmental, economic and social. It’s organised by benefit corporation Acqua dell’Elba and by Fondazione Acqua dell’Elba, a non-profit whose mission is to enhance the island of Elba by running projects and supporting businesses in five specific areas: environment, education, culture, social initiatives and art.
Research
We believe that the value of a company is also measured through its contribution to collective well-being.
For this reason, within our corporate social responsibility initiatives, we have chosen to support scientific research, extending our commitment beyond the boundaries of our local community.
As a Benefit Corporation, Acqua dell’Elba includes among its statutory objectives the support of research projects capable of generating a positive impact on health and quality of life.
