How does a fragrance come to life? At first glance, it may seem straightforward: choose a few essences, blend them together and let the composition take shape. Yet this is precisely where the perfumer’s work begins. Every fragrance is built on a delicate balance, with raw materials that need to harmonise and maturation times that must be carefully calibrated. It is a process shaped by experience and sensitivity, trials and subtle adjustments, until a distinct olfactory identity emerges.
This is followed by another phase, just as essential and just as rooted in craftsmanship. Here, through a sequence of precise gestures, the fragrance takes on its final form and is prepared to leave the workbench and make its way to you. This is the moment you can experience first-hand at the Acqua dell’Elba workshop in Marciana Marina, with “Artisan Perfumer for a Day”.
The workshop opens its doors to visitors, inviting them into a part of the process that usually remains behind the scenes. Guided by our master craftswomen, you will prepare “Classica Uomo”, the house’s first men’s Eau de Parfum, following the workshop’s everyday gestures: those that require precision and care, and reveal the craftsmanship behind every perfume bottle.
“Classica Uomo”: bottle your Eau de Parfum by hand
At the heart of the workshop is “Classica Uomo”, one of Acqua dell’Elba’s most representative fragrances. During your “Artisan Perfumer for a Day” experience, you will prepare it with your own hands, following every stage of the process, from bottling and labelling through to the final sealing.
Its fresh, enveloping bouquet opens with a citrus accord of lemon and mandarin, lifted by rosemary, recalling the aromatic character of coastal paths. At its heart, marine algae bring a salty freshness that anchors the fragrance in its aquatic character, while base notes of moss and Mediterranean scrub prolong its personality, leaving the memory of the island’s scents on the skin. A composition that expresses the Mediterranean identity of the Island of Elba.
At the end of the experience, the 100 ml bottle of “Classica Uomo” you have prepared in the workshop will be yours.
