Our workshop on the island offers an encounter designed for those who would like a close-up look at the steps involved in creating a perfume: labelling, boxing, and closing the package. These are simple but important steps that allow you to enter the heart of artisan work at Acqua dell’Elba, if just for a little bit.
The experience focuses on a symbolic fragrance: ‘Classica Uomo’, the first eau de parfum designed to contain the unmistakable scents of the island of Elba in a bottle. Its authenticity is depicted in notes of citrus fruit, a marine heart, and the harmony of Mediterranean macchia. Packaging, personalising, and taking home your own bottle of ‘Classica Uomo’ is a moment to tune in to the history and landscape where it is born. It is a simple act to experience slowly, to find a new way of being on the island, a way that is more attentive, deeper, and more aware.
"Via dell’Essenza", a Trip into the Origins of Inspiration
A true artisan recognises the roots of inspiration. Before creating a fragrance, the artisan listens to nature, observes it, passes through it. This is also why the ‘artisan perfumer for a day’ experience finds a natural complement in ‘Via dell’Essenza’. This trail was created by Acqua dell’Elba together with the Tuscan Archipelago National Park to tell about the island.
The western loop, the last stage of an idea that began in 2011, is finally complete and was recently inaugurated. The 66.5 km of the trail are divided into 8 sensory paths immersed in the Mediterranean macchia to travel on foot, accompanied by maps, signs, and QR codes that reveal stories about plants, landscapes, and scents. The path becomes a conversation between the hiker and the surrounding nature, leading to the discovery of spontaneous scents and the notes found in the workshop in Marciana Marina.
The fragrance created during the ‘artisan perfumer for a day’ is thus a conscious return to something that already exists among the paths, rocks, flowers, and colours that the island gives to those who truly want to experience it, with the understanding that each inspiration is deeply rooted beneath our steps.
