SEIF 2024: connections and sustainability at the heart of the Island of Elba

From 28th to 30th June 2024, the Island of Elba will come alive with a new edition of SEIF - the Sea Essence International Festival. The event, which is now in its sixth edition, is designed and organised by the Acqua dell'Elba Foundation, the non-profit organisation set up in 2022 on the initiative of Acqua dell'Elba to increase the impact of its work in the territory and contribute to improving the quality of life of the people who live there. SEIF will once again take place in the picturesque village of Marciana Marina, an exceptional setting for talking about sustainability of the sea, where you can experience its beauty first hand and get involved in many practical activities to understand it close up.

'Connections' will be the central theme of the 2024 edition, which will highlight the unbreakable bond between the sea and mankind; connections that weave together nature, culture and love, and create crossroads in relationships that the sea has inspired and nurtured over the centuries, bringing together cultures, influencing economies and enriching our daily lives. This will be the theme of the planned initiatives, which are all aimed at exploring new horizons and embracing an increasingly sustainable and inclusive vision of the sea.

Connections for Nature, Culture and Love: the heart of SEIF 2024

Every day, the sea builds and strengthens connections that bind us to its essence and require us to renew our commitment to a sustainable approach. These are the 'Connections for Nature', those that take us back to the deep expanse of the sea, to its ability to regenerate itself and to guard treasures of biodiversity. It is not by chance that these will be the first of the themes addressed in the two workshops of this edition of the festival.

There will then be space to travel through time, along the routes trodden by ancient navigators and new educators, who will be discussing the theme of 'Connections for Culture'. For the past, thanks to the 'Phoenicians' Route', a cultural itinerary recognised by the Council of Europe, we will talk about the history of trade, exchange, and mutual respect that the sea has provided; for the present and the future, the key theme will be the Blue Schools, a European network of schools that have placed the sea at the centre of their education programme and which also features the schools of the Island of Elba.

Finally, every day, we will be 'connected for love' thanks to the many practical, educational and training activities in the calendar of events that are suitable for all ages. There will, of course, be no shortage of shows to bring the SEIF nights alive: on Friday 28th, the theatrical evening 'Canti e Cunti di mari erranti’ (Songs of the wandering seas); on Saturday 29th, Karima's concert; and on Sunday 30th, the evening 'Piccola filosofia del mare tra note e parole’ (Little philosophy of the sea with notes and words).

Products that make all the difference

In line with the three-day theme of the SEIF, Acqua dell'Elba has come up with three environmentally friendly ideas: the thermal water bottle for walks along the Via dell'Essenza; the natural body creams, to take care of yourself and regenerate; and the Tartalove room diffuser, to fill every space with the essence of the sea.

The Thermal Water Bottle, created in collaboration with Refill Now!, is perfect for those who love living outdoors and want to reduce their use of plastic. It is made of BPA-free stainless steel and decorated with the logo of the Acqua dell'Elba Foundation, a symbol of caring for the environment and commitment to a cleaner future.

The products in the bath and body line express a deep respect for nature, combining gentleness and effectiveness with a 95% natural formula. Bath and Shower Gel, Shampoo and Shower Gel, Exfoliating Scrub, Moisturising Soap, Moisturising Body Cream, and Hyaluronic Acid Body Cream: each product in the bath and body line represents a commitment to navigating towards a sustainable future for the environment and the community.

The Tartalove diffuser, launched to mark World Sea Turtle Day, is a special edition of the 500 ml "Isola d'Elba" room diffuser, with a wooden cap decorated with the Tartalove logo: on sale until 28th February 2025 in Acqua dell'Elba single-brand shops and online, 15% of the proceeds will be donated to Tartalove to support sea turtle protection projects.
