THE SCENT OF LOVE: SAINT VALENTINE’S DAY WITH ACQUA DELL’ELBA.
A gift box intended to enjoy Saint Valentine’s Day in a more “Classica” form, letting ourselves be transported by the memory of love stories experienced through the suggestions of cinema, music and literature.
Of course, Saint Valentine’s Day is a festivity about lightness of heart, reawakening a sort of teenage spirit within us…but if we try breaking out of this scheme, we may rediscover the occasion of finding a moment together to seek that which unites us to the person which counts the most in our lives.A bond made of shared moments, common choices, emotions experienced together, special occasions which constitute indelible memories…
These considerations were the inspiration behind Acqua dell’Elba’s gift box idea, meant to enjoy the celebration of a love seeking its deepest roots: a celebration as “Classica” as the fragrance selected for the composition of the packages; as personal as the possibility of engraving upon the glass of the perfume bottles a sentence, name or number; as shared as the decision to combine the feminine 100 ml Eau de Parfum with its masculine 15 ml partner, or the masculine 100 ml Eau de Parfum with its feminine 15 ml partner.
This combination is inspired by a cinematic suggestion, that of the film “Ricordi” (“Memories”) written and directed by Valerio Mieli and interpreted by Luca Marinelli and Linda Caridi: the two protagonists, simply called “He” and “She”, live their lives together at first and separately later, in love then in conflict, exchanging gazes, distancing themselves before finding each other again within the bouquet of a perfume, indeed. In one of the most touching scenes of the film, He enters a perfumery to find the fragrance She wore, and He loses himself among the notes of the perfumes touching his heart, making him re-live his whole life. For this Saint Valentine’s Day with locked down cinemas, the idea is to watch or re-watch together this film (you can find it on Prime Video), playing at recognising each other within the perfume bottles you gave each other to celebrate your love.
The fact that scent can create a strongly persistent sentimental connection, capable of recalling to mind memories and sensations in a very physical and concrete way, was already discovered at the end of the 1800s (precisely at the beginnings of psycho-analysis) by Luigi Capuana in his novel “Profumo” (“Perfume”), among the protagonists of which you may even find the fragrance of orange flowers that is also present in the bouquet of Classica Donna. Closer to contemporary times, a writer with such a powerful and personal style as Aldo Nove wrote “All’Inizio Era il Profumo” (“At the Beginning There Was Scent”), a work many have defined as a novel of olfactive formation, reuniting official History with personal stories, along a scented path threading throughout his whole life.
Lastly, Perfume Genius is the name of one of the most innovative artists in contemporary pop music: the recently released dance remix of his song “Your Body Changes Everything” from his latest album “Set My Heart on Fire Immediately” (a perfect title for Saint Valentine’s Day) combines melodies and lyrics into a New Wave atmosphere which is an authentic invitation to start carelessly dancing together again. You can do that even at home remembering good times, just one of many happy memories suggested by this celebration, which we hope will bring a whiff of the unforgettable into your lives.
