#ELBA2035: INTERVIEW WITH ANGELO ZINI

President of the “Comunità del Parco” (“Park Committee”) and Mayor of Portoferraio, Angelo Zini is the “Visionary” we interview today to prepare the hot topics which will be at the heart of the 1st of July webinar dedicated to sustainable development, itself one of the first milestones leading to the drafting of a Manifesto for Sustainable Development called “#ELBA2035”.
The Mayor started by telling us how much he would enjoy seeing Isola d’Elba in 2035: ‘I’d like to imagine an island capable of developing its impressive environmental heritage’. More specifically, Zini hopes for ‘An Isola d’Elba completely enclosed by the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago, that is to say, with a protected area even on the sea: a paradise where people would come to enjoy the natural resources of this extraordinary territory.’
A territory which, however, is not defined merely by its environment, as Zini reminds us: ‘Isola d’Elba also represents a huge historical, cultural, winemaking and gastronomic heritage: all of these elements define our territory as an unrepeatable microcosm’.
As an administrator, the Mayor of Portoferraio has one last important concept to express. ‘We have to network, making it so that this territory may be administered in a united, cohesive manner. My dream is that in 2035 the whole of Isola d’Elba may be run by the same municipality’.
An important issue, which shall surely be the object of discussion even during our 1st of July webinar: keep following us in the next days to find out more.
