THE ESSENCE OF ART: ACQUA DELL’ELBA AND BEAUTY.

As the great musician Leonard Bernstein used to say, “Art cannot change events. But it can change people. It can affect people so that they are changed... because people are changed by art – enriched, ennobled, encouraged – they then act in a way that may affect the course of events...”. This is a belief Acqua dell’Elba has subscribed to since the very initial stages of its adventure, so today we would like to talk about the relationship between our company and art, taking inspiration from the inauguration of the second edition of the festival “Marciana Borgo D’Arte” (“Marciana Art Village”).

THE ESSENCE OF ART AS A WAY TO DEVELOP LOCAL TERRITORY

Once again, this year, Acqua del’Elba has decided to support the festival “Marciana Borgo D’Arte”, which in its second edition has chosen to dwell upon the theme of the relationship between art and nature. A theme which is absolutely relevant to our current society, where we are faced each day by the need to find a better balance with the rhythms of nature, as well as by the values Acqua dell’Elba promotes through its SEIF initiative – Sea Essence International Festival. This year the village itself will be the main protagonist, with six installations created by artists specifically for six locations within the historical centre: the one sponsored by Acqua dell’Elba will be located upon the bastions of the fortress, and will consist of a poetical exploration about sea pebbles, by the ceramist Alfredo Gioventu’. To complete the programme of the festival, an exhibition of visual arts will also take place in Piazza della Gogna, as well as the 12 concerts organised by Altre Musiche.

THE ESSENCE OF ART: THE “ARTISTI ALL’ELBA” (“ARTISTS ON ELBA”) PROJECT

The presence on the island of Alfredo Gioventu’ will not be limited to “Marciana Borgo D’Arte”: a personal exhibition dedicated to the artist from Sestri Levante will also take place between the 17thand 23rdof August in the Telemaco Signorini exhibition room of Portoferraio. The act of offering exhibition spaces on the island to current artists has become a longstanding tradition for Acqua dell’Elba, often a purchaser as well as a patron of the resulting works of art. Indeed, an authentic collection is taking shape, including works from artists such as Alex Rinesch, Walter Puppo, Helga and Kurt Mergenthal, Rudy Pulcinelli, Marcello D’Arco, Marianne Kipp, Luciano Regoli, Andrea Mariconti, Angelo Palazzini, Maria Cristina Sammarco, Nena & Tomy, Mario Apone, Silvano Campeggi, Roberto Ridi, Mario Branca and Riccardo Mazzei.

THE ESSENCE OF ART: THE ACQUA DELL’ELBA ARTS AWARD

The relationship between Acqua dell’Elba and the world of art has been consolidating, since 2016, thanks to the collaboration with the Arts Academy of Brera. The historical Milanese artistic institution assists our company every year for the selection of some of the most deserving and noteworthy of its pupils. Their works of art are exhibited in the Telemaco Signorini exhibition room in Portoferraio, and three of them receive a scholarship from Acqua dell’Elba, allowing them to pursue the perfecting process which will lead them to enter the international world of art in a professional manner. Furthermore, their works of art also become features of the company art collection. The artists chosen for the 2019 Acqua dell’Elba Arts Award will be on show in Portoferraio from the 24thto the 31stof August.

Keep following us on our blog and social media channels, we will keep you constantly updated on the evolution of Acqua dell’Elba’s projects in the world of art.
