In Acqua dell’Elba’s scrub, for example, the exfoliating action of microplastics has been replaced by microscopic granules of sand and coral dust obtained exclusively from cleansing operations performed on ancient coral, which, if left unattended and free to deposit on the seabed, would choke the budding new formations of this precious treasure of the sea.
